Himalayan adventure trips for adrenaline junkies don't get much better than this.
Get ready for some fun and action Himalayan style on a heady mix of some of the best mountain bike trails in Nepal, combined with wild river rafting. Beginning with Mountain biking, you'll ride out of Kathmandu and follow challenging singletrack and jeep track roads to then ride the skyline of the Kathmandu Valley rim, culminating with a blistering 1000-metre descent to test your technical skills. There's vehicle support some of the way, as a jeep can't follow the great singletrack trails you'll be riding. But at least it will be carrying your main baggage! If you've seen the MTB movie "Retread", then some of it was filmed on the trails you'll be thrilling over. It's then time to head out on a journey by raft down the Trisuli River, with sections of Grade 3 and sometimes Grade 4 rapids and a cosy permanent tented riverside camp in a balmy, sub-tropical climate. Then to Pokhara and to finish on a literal high with a spot of paragliding with a magnificent backdrop of the entire Annapurna's and what was claimed to be the longest and fastest zip wire in the world. A more full-on adventure for seasoned outdoors people who have a good level of fitness and are competent handling a mountain bike in particular. Nepal is adventure travel at its best.

After breakfast, you'll travel by private vehicle to the Trisuli River Valley and to Baireni, the put-in point for the rafting. You'll be given a safety briefing, wetsuits, safety helmets, and life jackets. Your main baggage will travel ahead by vehicle to tonight's camp, so anything you want with you for today will go into dry bags on the raft. Once you're ready, it's onto the river, and after around an hour of paddling and a bit of whitewater (Grade 3), you'll stop at a scenic riverbank location for a picnic lunch. Back onto the water, there's some more whitewater before the river becomes a calmer paddle and leads to the permanent riverside tented camp known as Big Fig (Trisuli Centre). Enjoy a BBQ dinner al fresco on the stony beach by a camp fire.

Take breakfast at camp, no 'crack of dawn' start either, and take to the river mid-morning to continue your journey down stream. You'll probably get a bit wet today as there are some grade 3–4 rapids (depending on river levels) to provide thrills along the way. After 3–4 hours of rafting, you'll reach Kuringhat, where the rafting ends. But first a leisurely picnic lunch, and then it's back to the road, and after around 3 hours of driving, you reach Pokhara, Nepal's premier resort. Your hotel is in the 'Lake Side' area.

The paragliding crew will pick you up from your hotel in Pokhara in the morning and then drive you up the narrow, winding singletrack road to virtually the top of Sarangkot Hill, which looms above Pokhara. A 5-minute walk to the take-off site, and some pretty great views too, from Dhaulagiri to Manaslu, with the entire Annapurna range and Fishtail in between. Here you’ll meet your pilot, and after a safety briefing or instruction, in just a few short steps, you’re soaring like a bird! You can usually take a small camera on the flight (at your own risk, naturally), but check with the pilot first. For a small additional cost, the pilot can also usually take “go-pro” stills and video footage of the flight (with you in it, of course). Please ensure you both request this and agree on the cost before takeoff. As you’ll see, Pokhara is Nepal’s “paragliding grand central,” and it’s easy to understand why. Easy access by road to the lift off site, often over 100 miles of Himalayan peaks in one direction, and 1000m below the lake at Pokhara, and a dazzling array of terraced fields and hillside homesteads for a view. The flight duration usually lasts between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the thermals. Landing is by the lake, and after landing, you’re dropped off back at the hotel. After you've taken a slow lunch, you'll be taken to a zip-wire facility that runs right down Sarangkot. It’s reputed to be one of the fastest and longest in the world. After a thrilling run down the mountainside, it's back to the hotel for a chill out.
