Snow Cat Travel is the brand name of and trades as Rural Heritage Journeys PVT LTD of Nepal, with a Head Office in Kathmandu. Our parent company, Rural Heritage Nepal owns and operates select boutique heritage hotels in Nepal, such as the Famous Farm at Nuwakot and the Old Inn at Bandipur.
We’ve been around since 1999 as a Destination Management company, initially just for the travel trade, providing services to International Tour Operators (which we still do!). Although we all go back even further!
As more and more people now want their visit to Nepal or Bhutan to be so much more than a fixed group programme, the Snow Cat Travel brand was created in 2014 specifically for the discerning traveller who desires a more personal travel service, enhanced cultural experiences, and also prefers to book their holiday directly with a locally owned Nepalese company. All the benefits of booking directly with a registered Nepal Tour Operator (e.g., lower prices) combined with the expertise of a British Tour Operator gave us the knowledge, standards, and experience to give our valued clients the best possible service, from creating their tailor-made holiday to delivering it here in Nepal and Bhutan.
We are both honoured and privileged at Snow Cat Travel to be listed as a Lonely Planet-recommended Nepal Trekking Agency and Tour Operator and with Rough Guides too. Only a very select handful from a choice of thousands receive such an accolade.
But not only are we listed, but the authors of Lonely Planet Nepal and Rough Guide Nepal rely on us too!
SNOW CAT TRAVEL was chosen by ETIHAD AIRWAYS to design and deliver "on the ground" a tour of "Hidden Nepal" for renowned Travel Writer Simon Parker and Professional Travel Photographer Ben Read, who were visiting Nepal for the very first time. Their brief was to produce an article about Nepal away from the main tourist trails for the prestigious ATLAS IN-FLIGHT MAGAZINE for ETIHAD AIRWAYS, one of the world's leading, luxury airlines. Atlas Magazine is estimated to be read by up to 20 million people! SNOW CAT TRAVEL took Simon and Ben beyond Kathmandu to Nuwakot, rafting on the Trisuli River, a visit to Bandipur, paragliding in Pokhara, and exploring the ancient wonders and traditions of Bhaktapur. This article has now been published in Atlas Magazine. In fact, the editor of the magazine was so impressed with the results that extra space in the magazine was given to Simon and Ben's article!

We've worked regularly with Stuart Butler, author of the Rough Guide to Nepal and Lonely Planet Trekking in Nepal, to provide technical and logistical advice, assistance, and expertise for both publications, along with support for media articles to be published elsewhere. In researching "alternative" and fact-finding trekking possibilities in Nepal, we also provide Stuart with full logistical trek support services.
See Stuart Butlers publication on his MUSTANG TREK WITH SNOW CAT TRAVEL. Most recently, Stuart has once again chosen Snow Cat Travel to trek into the Tsum Valley/Manaslu Circuit and assist with in-depth research into the Yarsagumba trade.

In Stuart's words,"...Snow Cat Travel ensured my trips to Nepal have gone smoothly but the team have been great fun to be involved with....."
We also supported Lonely Planet Nepal co-author Paul Stiles on his first visit to Nepal with pre-planning, a specialist guide, accommodation, and travel services for research and updates for the latest Lonely Planet Nepal publication. An epic five-week journey that covered the far east, central, western, and lowland areas of Nepal, including Chitwan, Bardia, and Lumbini. His brief was to cover 371 locations during this period. Phew! Our Operations Manager (Abhi) also contributed to the updated Transport in Nepal section.
In Paul's own words...."Nepal is a country where logistics are the primary challenge....not sure what I would have done without you guys."
You are amazing Mark!....I feel in great hands..... As ever your observations are on point . We know our schedule is ambitious...Thank you again for being amazing and such a good liaison..... You are my Nepal handler !
