Rural Panauti, with its ornate temples, dates back to the 14th Century. Nearby, Namobuddha is one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal.
Very close to Pokhara but decidedly more tranquil, Begnas Lake as well as hilltop Rupakot have spectacular mountain views.
