A fairly new comfort lodge, dramatically perched high above the Kali Gandaki Valley. The views are equally sensational. Above looms Dhaulagiri, and across the Nilgiris and Annapurnas. Thasang is remote and isolated, but the lodge has comfy rooms (proper beds, bathrooms, electricity, etc.). There's no heating in the rooms, but after a tasty dinner, the staff provides hot water bottles to keep you cosy and warm as you sleep. The local tipple, 'buckwheat brandy, has a toasting effect too! There's a Japanese feel to this lodge (the owner's wife is from Japan), and as well as local specialities, Japanese-style food is often on the menu. The lodge is popular with Japanese photography parties. Hardly surprising given its location. The lodge has a glass-covered observation gallery on the roof too. The tiny, sleepy, authentic village of Thasang itself is a mere 5 minutes walk, and there are some pretty amazing day walks from the lodge too.
