Snow Cat Travel is the brand name and the premium tailor-made service for holidays that are operated by Rural Heritage Journeys PVT LTD of Nepal with a Head Office in Kathmandu. Our parent company Rural Heritage Nepal owns and operates select boutique, heritage hotels in Nepal such as the Famous Farm at Nuwakot and the Old Inn at Bandipur.
The Snow Cat Travel Sales Office is based in the UK
We've been around since 1999, initially as a Destination Management Company for the travel trade, providing services to International Tour Operators (which we still do!). Although we all go back even further!
As more and more people now want their visit to Nepal or Bhutan to be so much more than a fixed group programme Snow Cat Travel was created specifically for the discerning traveller who desires a more personal travel service, enhanced cultural experiences and that also prefers to book their holiday directly with a locally owned Nepalese company. All the benefits of booking directly with a registered Nepal Travel Agency (e.g. lower prices) combined with the “know how” of British Tour Operator gained knowledge, standards and experience to give our valued clients the best possible service from creating their tailor made holiday to delivering it here in Nepal and Bhutan.
With over 30 years knowledge and experience as a Trek Leader (Himalayas and beyond) and combined with senior management postions with some of the UK's best known adventure travel companies, UK BASED Mark personally manages all customer enquiries.
Group Chief Executive
As well as Rural Heritage Journeys, which manages all aspects of tour operations, Niraj also heads the Rural Heritage Nepal division that owns and operates a number of lovingly restored traditional Nepalese buildings converted into guest accommodations.
The man that makes the 'magic' happen. Abhi and his team work tirelessly to ensure all aspects of your bespoke holidays run as smoothly as possible. From arranging guides and porters to booking transport and accommodation. Abhi is the " main man".
The real 'stars' of your trip are our support crews that are so hard working, conscientious and cheerful in enabling our clients to experience Nepal & Bhutan to the utmost. Invariably our clients return from their Himalayan treks and adventure journeys full of praise, admiration and respect for all the Nepalese & Bhutanese people whom have ensured their holiday has been both wonderful and memorable. Our friendly, knowledgable english-speaking guides are both trained and qualified. Their passion and enthusiasm is second to none. Of course, the type of support crew you'll have will depend upon the itinerary itself. Certainly you'll meet and get to know more than your guide, whether it be the gentleman who looks after our 'meet and greet' and transfer services for your arrival and departure at Kathmandu Airport, to our courteous drivers whose high standards, patience and skills negotiating traffic, potholes and everything else overland travel in Nepal & Bhutan brings is just incredible. If you're heading into the Himalayas then it's likely you'll have porters (pack animals usually in Bhutan) to carry your main baggage. The first time visitor is often astounded that porters are sometimes women too. But, being a trekking porter is considered a very good job and our porters are paid a fair wage (in fact respectable tour operators follow a code of practice for both porter wages and welfare) and the loads they carry is strictly limited to a regulated maximum. If your holiday involves camping then you'll have additional trek support crew such as a cook and his assistants, additional porters to carry all the camping gear and so on. How they manage the whole operation of preparing breakfast (and bed tea of course), breaking camp and packing up and then most likely passing you on the trail and having camp set up and ready, welcoming you to camp with refreshments and with supper already on the go is just mesmerising. That they do all of this seemingly without effort and always with a smile invariably endears them with our clients. Indeed we actively encourage you to make the effort to get to know our Nepalese & Bhutanese people whom are working as part of your holiday team.

We are proud to be associated with both the prestigious publications - Lonely Planet and Rough Guides
For the 2018 editions of Lonely Planet Nepal, Lonely Planet Trekking in Nepal and The Rough Guide to Nepal we are both honoured and privileged at Snow Cat Travel to be listed as a Lonely Planet recommended Nepal Trekking Agency & Tour Operator. Only a very select handful from a choice of thousands receive such an accolade.
During 2017 we were chosen by Stuart Butler - Author of the Rough Guide to Nepal and Lonely Planet Trekking in Nepal to provide technical and logistical advice, assistance and expertise for the next editions of both publications, along with support for media articles to be published elsewhere.
In researching "alternative" and fact finding trekking possibilities in Nepal, we also provided Stuart with full logistical trek support services during 2017.
See Stuart Butlers publication on his MUSTANG TREK WITH SNOW CAT TRAVEL
In 2018 Stuart has once again chosen Snow Cat Travel to trek into the Tsum Valley/Manaslu Circuit and assist with in-depth research into the Yarsagumba trade for an article scheduled to be published by the magazine of The Royal Geographic Society.
In Stuart's words...."Not just have staff ensured my trips to Nepal have gone smoothly but the team at Snow Cat Travel have been great fun to be involved with....."
Also during 2017, we supported Lonely Planet writer Paul Stiles on his first visit to Nepal with full guide, accommodation and travel services for research and updates for the next Lonely Planet Nepal publication. An epic five week journey that covered the far east, central, western and lowland Nepal including Chitwan, Bardia and Lumbini. His brief was to cover 371 locations during this period....phew! Our Operations Manager (Abhi) also contributed to the updated Transport in Nepal section.
In Paul's own words...."Nepal is a country where logistics are the primary challenge....not sure what I would have done without you guys"
