This is a multi-activity adventure in Nepal with many cultural encounters along the way.
Designed for active families, particularly with active teenagers in mind. Showcasing both the landscapes and rich heritage of Nepal, fun and action are always on the agenda too. Explore the wonders of Kathmandu by cycling back roads and dirt roads (which can easily be changed to hard-core mountain biking if you like!) in the Kathmandu Valley, discovering timeless villages and rural Nepal along the way. Observe how both Buddhism and Hinduism are intermingled at Namobuddha and Panauti. You'll then head to Pokhara for a family trek in the Himalayan foothills in the Modi Khola Valley, right beneath the towering giants of the Annapurna range and the iconic Fishtail Peak, and meet the locals who call these mountainscapes their home. It's then onto the waters of the Seti River for some Himalayan rafting as you head from the mountains to the lowland jungle regions, culminating in a safari in the world-famous Chitwan National Park in search of the elusive tiger and other wonderful wildlife. Sleeping bags (4 seasons) are required for the nights spent in lodges on the trek. We can arrange sleeping bag rentals for you.

After exploring Hindu Panauti and its ornate temples and shrines, you'll cycle with a cycling guide and vehicle support to the Buddhist site of Namobuddha. The distance from Panauti to Namobuddha is just over 10 km, and there is a steady climb up to Namobuddha on a moderately graded dirt road. A case of down then up today. First, you'll walk all the way down the valley flanks to reach the Modi Khola river, crossing via a bridge. It's then up, up, up, and at times a steep climb on a stepped trail all the way up. It can often be a hot climb, but there's no great rush, so you can take rest breaks on your way up as well as take advantage of refreshment opportunities along the way. Now, higher up and on the opposite side of the valley from where you started, there are fine views of Macchapuchhare (Fishtail Peak). Walking time is approx. 4-5 hours with around 300 m of descent and 700 m of ascent.
Accommodation: Trekking Lodge, Ghandruk

Transfer by private vehicle to Damauli and the Seti River. A rafting guide will give you a safety briefing and you'll be provided with wetsuits, safety helmets and life jackets (paddles too!) It's then an almost instant wilderness sensation as you take to the waters of the Seti River. Mostly it's flat water paddling through the steep-sided sub-tropical forested river valley. There's some straightforward whitewater fun too (grades 2-3), and you'll stop at a suitable pebbled beach for a picnic lunch before continuing your journey. After some rapids you'll pass our own tended river side camp and an hour or so later there's some final whitewater, and perhaps the best rapids of the whole day before you reach the take out point where the road once again meets the river. Paddling time is around 4-5 hours all told. From here you'll journey into Nepal's jungle region of Chitwan, which is just over an hour away.

A private vehicle transfer to Kathmandu (approximately 6 hours). Arriving in Kathmandu in the late afternoon, you're once again spoiled for choices to eat out in the Thamel district this evening, and as the shops stay open late, there's still time for some last-minute souvenir hunting. Perhaps by now you're feeling confident enough to try out some polite haggling. It is, of course, bad manners to haggle over something you've no intention of purchasing. However, you may wish to consider some additional contingencies for this trip, whether it be for any delays or cancellations that can and do occur for internal flights or any other difficulties that may arise.
