This really is a gem of a place for anyone really wanting to become more immersed and understanding of life in the rurality of Bhutan. Aum Karma has converted the family farm house into a very welcoming, rustic place for visitors to enjoy. It's right by the Po Chhu River, in fact to reach the farm house you cross a small suspension bridge giving a sense of refuge and being away from it all.
A huge garden with flowers and vegetables surrounds the charming traditional stone house. . This home is great for those who would like to experience everyday farm life. Aum Karma has cows, hens and vegetable fields. On request she can prepare a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath.
Karma is a very experienced weaver and designer for go and kira patterns (she designed the 5th king’s coronation go!). Karma also offers dyeing workshops with natural dye for her guests for an additional cost. She boils the ingredients on open fire, as is customary, until they get the colour intensity she is looking for.
Private rooms are naturally simple, but comfortable and bathroom/toilet facilies are shared with other guests (if there are any).
