                  About Payments

Your booking  and contract will be with Rural Heritage Journeys PVT LTD, First Floor, Vista Building, Nagpokhari, Kathmandu, Nepal

We fully understand and appreciate that our valued clients are domicile in countries that are much more developed than Nepal. This includes the ease of making payments and being able to take it for granted that a payment can be made online with a simple touch on an app.

Sadly the fact is that Nepal lags behind more developed nations in many aspects.

Presently we are able to offer our customers two options for making payments, both of which involve additional and variable costs, hence they are not included in the cost of your trip.

Please note that for late bookings (36 days or less before the start date) we require payment in full at the time of booking and we are unable to accept the bank transfer method of payment for late bookings. See our How to Book page.

Notes re: Bank Transfers

PLEASE TELL US IF YOU ARE PAYING BY BANK TRANSFER AND THE DATE THE TRANSFER IS MADE

Transfers can take between 3-8 working days, so the above helps us identify your transfer quickly

If you paying by bank transfer your bank will make a charge for this.

You should check with your bank what charges are made BEFORE making the transfer.

As the costs of international bank transfers seem to vary considerably (dependent upon the bank -$35-$50+ per transaction), we cannot take this cost into account when we provide you with your trip quote

Banks seem to have varying protocols and policies with regard to bank transfers to Nepal banks. Some allow online transfers, some don’t and either offer banks transfers to Nepal via telephone banking, or in person at your bank branch only.

Please check with your own bank as to their policy in this respect.

Online bank transfers

Please note that Nepal banks do not have IBAN and instead have Swift Codes and thus if your bank’s online payments system requests an IBAN number it usually means that they are unable to process payments to Nepal online.

If you are making a bank transfer online you’ll need to include the additional costs your bank will charge for the international transfer. Other wise it is deducted during the process and consequently the amount we receive is less than the amount requested for your deposit/final balance invoice payment.

As per our terms and conditions, if the amount we receive is less than the amount requested, the difference will be added to your invoice (in respect of deposit payments), or must be paid at your pre-trip briefing in Nepal (in respect of final balance invoice payments). Please note our bank does not make a charge for payments received and in instances where there is a discrepancy between the amount requested and the amount received we will naturally provide evidence of this.

Telephone/ In bank branch transfer payments

You’ll need to ask your bank to include the additional costs your bank will charge for the international transfer. Other wise it is deducted during the process and consequently the amount we receive is less than the amount requested for your deposit/final balance invoice payment.

NOTE - As per our terms and conditions, if the amount we receive is less than the amount requested, the difference will be added to your invoice (in respect of deposit payments), or must be paid at your pre-trip briefing in Nepal (in respect of final balance invoice payments). Please note our bank does not make a charge for payments received and in instances where there is a discrepancy between the amount requested and the amount received we will naturally provide evidence of this.

Notes re: Card Payments

All card transactions are in $US only and the transaction takes place in Nepal. In a country like Nepal where half the population earns less than $US 1 per day, it’s perhaps not surprising that the use of credit/debit cards is much, much less than that of your own country. Your card issuer may also charge you currency exchange fees.

Consequently the commission charged for credit/debit card payments in Nepal is much higher and is 4% for either. Another reason why card usage in Nepal is not common other than in tourist areas.

For all credit/debit card payments an additional 4% charge is made.
