Everest view from the Renjo La- Everest The Hard Way Trek
Everest view from the Renjo La- Everest The Hard Way Trek

A very challenging Himalayan trek and a quieter trek to Everest Base Camp. Instead of following the usual route to Everest Base Camp this trek goes even more off the beaten track and includes the tough ascent of the Renjo La to Gokyo, then across the Cho La and a backdoor route to EBC. Definitely the realm of the serious, commited and very strong trekker. Possibly the greatest Nepal walking holiday.

The altitudes involved in this trek up to EBC demand respect and thus the walking becomes more challenging as a result. There's the possibility to extend this trek and include the Kongma La on the return from Everest Base Camp to form what has become known as the Three Passes Everest Trek.

See our Everest The Hard Way trek page for more.

Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam from the Everest View Hotel
Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam from the Everest View Hotel

It's not called the Everest View Hotel for nothing.

Located at 3880m, the Everest View Hotel is a short walk up from Namche Bazaar, and if you're hiking to Everest Base Camp, it's a handy place to stop for refreshments and take in the views.

But, if you're also looking for a shorter Everest trek then it makes for a great objective as you can see the summit of Everest rising above the Nuptse Ridge, Lhotse and Ama Dablam too.

Although we have now introduced an Everest Heli-Trek, if trekking isn't your thing then a private Everest helicopter flight and what is the Everest helicopter cost are things to think about.

The answer as to how much the costs are to charter a helicopter to see Everest is.....a lot of money!

You're looking at around $4K to $5K for a private Everest helicopter flight. But, at least the helicopter can take up to 4 people. So, if you have three other friends who are up for it, then maybe around $1.3K each is possible.

It is still cheaper to trek....but, if that's not ever going to be possible for you then one Nepalese phrase "Ke Garne?" (what to do?) applies.

“All my life I’ve dreamed of hiking to Everest Base Camp, but just can’t get the time off work”

That comment is one I’ve heard countless times and up until recently just one of those things that you can only say “Sorry, I can’t help you achieve your dream” to.

Everest Base Camp....the dream
Everest Base Camp....the dream

After all you can’t move Mount Everest and because of it’s location, the challenging trekking as well as the respect and consideration human beings must give to high altitude, the Everest Base Camp Trek just simply will not fit into a two week vacation.

The return trek to Everest Base Camp (sensibly and safely) is usually around 17 days and then you’ve got to add two or three days onto that for International travel to and from Nepal. So, you’re realistically looking at needing three weeks holiday.

That just simply isn’t an option for lots of people…..two weeks at a time is about the norm for the majority of us.

I wonder how many frustrated Everest dreamers there are in the world?

Well, for some of those frustrated dreamers, this may well be the solution. An Everest Heli-Trek!!!
